Business travelers with online and offline services.

We all know that there are more and more people who pass through Online travel Agent to reserve rooms and flights. Among these people, business travelers contribute the high percentage. However, beside that, there are still a lot of business who want to book services through Offline Agent. I totally agree with the article.

Business travelers with online and offline services.

Firstly, business travelers are always busy people. The main purpose of their travel is working. Thus, most of them do not want to waste time on anything else except working. They choose offline travel agent so that they do not have to worry about the services. By this way, they can save time and focus on their jobs.
Secondly, nowadays, there are a lot of Online travel agents such as booking.com, expedia, tripadvisor, bing.com, etc. Customers are absolutely confused when they want to book services. They do not know which one is good. Only people who travel a lot know how to get on internet and use booking engines to search the OTAs which give  best prices. People who dont travel much, can book bad services on internet.
Last but not least, paying through Internet can face to the problem of being stollen credit cards.

Therefore, many business travelers prefer to go to offline agents, even call them to book services while on the road.
I think travel agencies must take into account this and improve the services as better as possible. Clearly, they can make a lot of profit if they have services which are available anytime, everywhere. They will beat the OTA.

Smart phone and travel market.

Have a look on this interesting article.
Smart phone and travel market

I think that it is the time for people who work in travel market to focus on business on smart phones.
Firstly, the cost of new smart phone is always high. Thus, there are not many people who buy new phones directly. They sign the contract with telephone line companies. And for most of the contracts, 3G is always included. Thus, it enables people to use internet everywhere.
Secondly, business men, especially who work in travel market must travel a lot. Nowadays, smart phones help them a lot contacting with partners, and clients. By this way, they dont lose their big contracts. Therefore, more and more businessmen are interested in smartphones.
Take an example of Iphone which is used by more and more people, there are a lot of appilication for people to check flight time/ train time on Iphone. Sncf already establised an application on Iphone. By this way, people can do check train details, book or cancel trains whenever and wherever they are.
I think that hotels and travel agencies can make an application on smart phones. It means that people can access to the pages of hotels or travel agencies everywhere. It saves a lot of time for people.
With the fast innovation in technology, hotels and travel agencies must catch up with this in order to meet the demand of customers.

Holiday travel: 29% will cut trip short...

There are some news for people who work in hospitality. According to the survey, 29% holiday travellers will cut their trips short or shack up with their friends and family. Is it totally a negative sign for the travel market?
We haven't recovered from the financial crisis yet. However, during the crisis, the number of travellers have not decreaed too much. Tourism is still an attractive sector. 29% of the holiday travellers (based on the survey on 1001 internet users) only change their travel plans. Or another statistic figures is that 55% of them will not use expensive services.
In fact, the travellers are very intelligent. They can travel before or after the peak time of holidays. They can shorthen their stays. They can fly with economy airlines and avoid check-in luggages. Shortly, they try every way to travel within their budgets. It means that the hotels, the airline companies, the travel agencies still can earn profit because the numbers of travellers are not decreased. In fact, it is estimated to go up 30% more than last year. Thus, these statistic numbers show us that travelllers will change their voyage attitudes during this year. People who work in hospitality have to notice this and find the appropriate ways to cope with the change.
For example: tour operators can offer the best price (reduce price or offer extra services with same price) for expensive activities for family/friend groups. This year they tend to travel with family, relatives or friends so there must be groups who will join the services together. We can get less profit per person than normally, but we have more customers. We don't make loss.
